Its not by what you have that makes you happy, but by who is in your life that truly makes you happy. SE

You learn something being here for so long, take each day as they come, don’t expect to much, don’t get to excited about good events, just live in the moment your in every second of every day. Skylar's vent came out yesterday at 12:20, he did incredible with the whole thing. He has managed to remain calm and collected for the past 21 hours. His Co2 gas has been pretty good 46 to 52 (his norm). The biggest hurdle is going to be suctioning, they still have to get what’s in his lungs out. And that entails going threw his nose with a small catheter and sucking it out. As you can imagine he doesn’t care for this very much, but he is tolerating it. In some way I think he knows they are only trying to help. So the hardest part is over now it’s the long journey of keeping him off the vent. So please don’t stop praying! He still needs all those wonderful thoughts and prayers. He still has a mountain to climb before he can go home. Thanks Sky and Mom
The last three nights have been a bit rough on Skylar. There was the issue with taking him off of his drips and giving him oral sedation. Well his body was metabolizing the meds completely different, so he was in and out of sedation more then a few times. Also over the past 24 hours Skylars secretions have become less, but they have also become very thick. They think they are so think due to all the diuretics he is taking. With the secretions being so think it’s allot easier for him to plug off his lungs, which he has shown us 2 times already today. The doctors are cutting back on his laics to see how he rehydrates, the hope is he wont store all the moisture in his lungs. We will have to wait and see. And sorry guys no new picture for this blog, its mainly just an update. Hopefully the next picture will be next week with Skylar off the vent. So another request for special prays. We need everyone to pray that he doesn’t have anymore problems with the secretions, no more plugging, no more collapsed lungs, no excess fluids in the lungs and over all strength! Thanks Mom

Well today was a good day, I got a fever yesterday and they took blood and urine and stuff from my throat. Wouldn’t you know it all came back fine. No infections!!!! Thank God because I don’t want to get sick while being here, I just want to get better and go home with my mommy and daddy. I know everyone misses me, and I sure do miss them. It’s going to be so good to get out of here, and be home where my family will help me rest and get strong. I’ve got bigger fish to fry! So everyone out there, say a special prayer for me and for my family tonight, bring us all home together soon!!!!!! Thanks Sky

On March 28th Skylar was rushed to Childrens in Seattle, he had gotten the flu and in working so hard to get ride of it he collapsed his right lung. Since we got here he has been intabated 3 times and extbated 2 times. He no longer has the flu but continues to produce secretions in his lungs. The Drs say this will continue for a few more weeks due to his strength issues caused from his SMA. He is working on getting better, and he is. Its just a slow process. He has his awake times where he plays and laughs, he even trys to talk, you can read his lips. But he gets up set when he trys to talk because he cant hear what he just said. He has his mommy who wont leave his side and he has his daddy who is coming up every day, and of course his brother and sister come up about 3 times a week to see him too. With all this love and support and watch full eyes on him he will be better in a few weeks and hopefully home! May soft hands hold and love you keep you safe and return you soon to your family and home!!!!

On April 4th 2005 we were blessed with arrival of Skylar Dean Eichele, he was born at CVH in Arlington, WA at 10:47pm. He was a little tike, but oh so cute. He weighed 6lbs 13oz and he was 19" long. Skylar was born on his brothers birthday, so you could say they were each others birthday gifts that year.
